Bloggers Rocking Yours Clothing – January Edition

Hey peeps! Hope you’re enjoying our sale – we’ve taken an extra 20% OFF all of our sale items, so what was already a bargain is now just plain silly!

As much as the fashion industry tells us fashion is about fantasy and stunning models, I find a lot of inspiration looking at other women similar to myself, and the ways they put together outfits. The plus size fashion blogging community has been fantastic for this, with hundreds of ordinary women like you and me showing off their fabulous style!

Obviously what’s even better is when these stylish, beautiful ladies feature clothing from here at Yours! And there have been some great outfits this month. Here’s my round up...

Letilor dressed down our black frill skirt but still manages to look glamorous!

Stiletto Siren goes 100% rock chick with the help of our Limited Collection PU bomber jacket

Naomi of Diamonds ‘n’ Pearls talks about her favourite skirt, our black tulip mini and dresses it up with cute brogues and tan belt!

Lianna of Beauty Plus looks gorgeously cosy in our cream cable jumper for a day chilling out with her family. She also picks out her Yours Clothing wishlist here

If you have a blog and fancy being featured in a blogging round up, comment with your links and I’ll keep an eye out for you wearing Yours!

Designer Look of the Week: Boho Chic

Hello again, how are we today? Have you been enjoying our twitter giveaway week? Make sure you follow @yoursclothing and keep your eyes open between 2pm and 4pm every day to win a hot Yours Clothing item!

I’ve been absolutely loving the bohemian chic trend that’s all over the high street at the moment and most recently as Yours’ hottest trend It began on the catwalks, with Marc Jacobs, Roberto Cavalli, Elie Saab and Topshop Unique taking heaps of inspiration from the 70’s and its icons like Bianca Jagger and Jerry Hall. Think long, flowing silhouettes, sheer fabrics and hippie-inspired fringing.

As much as I love the dressier side of this look, I was really drawn to Topshop Unique’s low key, rock chick festival outfits. So using items from Yours I’ve recreated one of my faves, meaning that you can rock festival boho chic no matter your size – and the entire outfit comes to just over £60! Is that a bargain or what?

Natural Horse Print T-shirt £12
Tan Tassel Bag £12
Black Maxi Skirt £18
Tan Three Keeper Belt £6
Gino Paoli Gladiator Sandal £10

I think this is such a great look for during the day, and one to keep around for when the sun comes our later this year. If this makes you feel a bit chilly, I’d team the look with Yours’ Black Lace Look Cardi for some extra warmth!

What do you think of my choices? If you have any comments then do get in touch as I love chatting to you!

Lots of love,

Lauren

The Power of Accessories!

Hey everyone! Hope you’re having an awesome Friday? As some of you might have seen, Yours Clothing had a great accessories sale on for a couple of days this week. In my opinion accessories are a godsend to us plus size fashionistas, as it can drastically change any look. Wanna see how? Here are three different looks based around the same basics:

Black Scoop Neck Top £14

Indigo Twill Skinny Jean £18

I mean, it’s a lovely casual outfit, but it’s crying out for a spruce up, don’t you think? So here are my picks:

Beige Polka Dot Scarf £6
Tan Tassell Bag £12
Black Foral Buckle Belt £10
Animal Print Chiffon Corsage £4

This is a great dressed down, bohemian kind of look. Fringing is a huge trend for this summer, so Yours’ tassel bag is just perfect! And you should know about me and animal print by now...

Grey Pearl Ribbon Bracelet £6
Pewter Zip Corsage Clutch £12
Brown Ruched Velvet Scarf £10
Black Glitter Corset Belt £10

If you were stuck on what to wear out for dinner with your girly friends (and maybe a few cocktails!), I think a hint of glitter in the belt and the lovely feel of velvet dresses up this outfit just the right amount!

Double Buckle Heart Belt £10
Black Floral Scarf £6
Red Quilted Chain Bag £10

I just love this look – the quilted back is totally retro and cute, and the heart shapes on the best just lends it a really interesting touch.

We’re getting in new, more fabulous accessories all the time, so do keep checking back – and of course I’ll let you know my faves!

Love as always, and have a fab weekend!

Golden Globes Red Carpet Fashion

Hey everyone, how are we all? Hope you’re having fun trying out the varsity trend!

For those of you who prefer glamour, the most exciting time on the showbiz calendar is definitely red carpet season, where celebrities don their best frocks and sashay down the red carpets for awards ceremonies. This year’s Golden Globes were no different, with a very muted colour palette: blacks, taupes, with splashes of emerald green and red. Here are my hits (and misses!), as well as some gorgeous red carpet ready dress from here at Yours Clothing!

It was great to see some curvier women on the red carpet – both on a smaller scale (Christina Hendricks) and on a larger one (Amber Riley). I think both of them picked perfect dresses, especially as I’m personally a sucker for ruffles and sparkles. Good work, ladies!

The celebrities who sparkled were definitely my favourite. I loved Anne Hathaway’s Armani Prive dress – which looked backless, but wasn’t! – and Angelina Jolie stunned everyone by wearing beautifully bright Atelier Versace. I also loved Sandra Bullock’s dressy bohemian look from Jenny Packham.

Ah, my eyes! As much as I love Gabourey Sidibe, this wasn’t a good look. The print just looks incredibly tacky, and far too casual for an awards ceremony. It’s a real shame, as she looks absolutely radiant – check out that beautiful smile! As for Helena Bonham Carter, I have to respect her for this, even though a lot of people hated it. Helena is being resolutely herself, and a total individual, so props to her.

If you’re after some beautifully dressy gowns in plus sizes, then look no further than Yours Clothing. Here are my top 3:

1: Black Frill One Shoulder Maxi Dress £20
2. Black Asymmetric Hem Plait Detail Mesh Dress £25
3. Black Embellished Strapless Maxi Dress £30

What do you think, peeps? Did you have any other favourite outfits from the Golden Globes? Remember you can always comment, tweet or leave a wall post on Facebook
and I’d love to chat!

Spot the Difference - Yours vs Mulberry!

Hi everyone! Have you seen our fab deals this week? We first offered 20% off our sale dresses, which proved so popular we've now extended the offer to our sale knitwear and sale coats/jackets! We do like to spoil you...

As you probably know, Mulberry, like Chanel and Louis Vuitton, are one of those bag brands that are synonymous with luxury - having one of their bags is almost like a status symbol, and their designs are emulated no end on the high street!

This week I noticed one of our new shoulder bags bears more than a passing resemblance to Mulberry's Bayswater shoulder bag...

Now I'm not attempting to pull wool over your eyes - of course there is a vast difference in fabrics, construction, etc. But if you wanted the smart, understated Mulberry look without spending an entire month's wages, then you could do a lot worse than to buy Yours' Black Tote Bag for £12!

What do you think? Let me know by leaving a comment!

Lots of love and take care,

Designer Look of the Week – American Prep

Hello my dears! It looks like Yours’ oversized top is a big hit with you all – and I’ve just found that they are bringing in a burnt orange colour version as well, which is great! I will let you know as soon as they’re available to buy.

A big high street trend at the moment is the American preppy, high school look topped off with varsity jackets. It’s a great trend for those of you who prefer something more casual and easy to wear, and for us glamour-pusses who fancy a day off!

I first noticed the trend back in 2009 in designer Alexander Wang’s spring runway show. Everything was heavily influenced by American sports and had a huge dose of cheerleader chic, with the high street soon following suit:

Since then a stream of celebs have rocked the trend, including Leona Lewis and Rihanna. Here are my top varsity picks from Yours Clothing’s American Preppy collection!

Mickey Mouse Sweatshirt

Indigo Denim Pencil Skirt

Grey Marl Scoop Neck Sweater

Navy & White Stripe Canvas Bag

Grey Marl Number Sweater

Shoes, Diesel

What do you think guys? I particularly love the Grey Marl Scoop Neck Sweater, as it’s so versatile. I like things to be a bit more edgy, so I’d spruce it up with brown leather accessories for going out! And who couldn’t love Mickey Mouse? I just want to throw on some leggings and trainers and feel super comfy.

Until next time everyone – in the meantime if you have any comments or questions feel free to comment here, tweet me or leave a comment on Facebook.

Lots of love,

Lauren xx

My Favourite New Year Arrivals

Hello my lovelies – have any of you taken a chance on leopard print yet? Hope so, and do remember you can always send us your outfit photos, as we’d love to feature them on the blog!

As I’m a bit of a fashion nerd, I like to check the “New In” sections of my favourite clothing sites to see what takes my fancy. At Yours, they have New In sections and a “Coming Soon” page which shows you stock that’s on its way. Over Christmas there have been some items that I cannot WAIT to come in, and I thought I’d share them with you. Check ‘em out:

1. Animal Print Tie Front Blouse, £22 - I know, here I go with the leopard print again! I’m sorry everyone, but I am slightly obsessed. This is a great blouse though, also available in black and is great for sprucing up an office suit.

2. Black Drape Swing Top, £14 – Oversized tops have been a super hot trend among the edgiest labels in the past few years, and something that not many plus sized brands have picked up. I’m so pleased that Yours have made their own version! Team it with quirky leggings and sandals for something edgy yet comfortable.

3. Black Contrast Peter Pan Collar Tunic, £22 – Peter Pan collars have been taking over the straight sized high street in the past few months, and it really appeals to my kooky, indie-girl side. Again it’s been frustrating that there were no plus sized options, until now! And what Yours are offering is super cute, too! I can’t wait to grab it for myself.

4. Black Longline Chiffon Tunic, £25 – Like oversized tops and peter pan collars, sheer fabrics have been a big hit for a long time. Great for layering, this black blouse is a blank canvas to project your individuality on to!

5. Heart Print Striped Knitted Tunic, £20 – Christmas might be over but it’s still winter, and this jumper seems lovely to snuggle up in when it’s cold!

What do you think, everyone? There are new items coming in all the time, which is very exciting!

If there’s anything you’d like me to cover then do let me know by commenting, tweeting or leaving wall posts on the Yours Clothing Facebook group!

Lots of love and take care,

Lauren xx

Have a WILD 2011!

Hello everyone! I really hope you all had a wonderful festive season, and a fabulous new year! Are you New Year’s resolutions still going strong? Hope so, you can do it, ladies!

One of my favourite resolutions is to be more daring with my clothing choices and trying things I wouldn’t normally, and it’s something I think all of you can do to give yourself a huge confidence boost. As you must already know it’s January sales time, which in my book is a perfect opportunity to purchase those things you loved the look of but weren’t sure whether the risk was worth the money.

Here are my favourite Yours Clothing Sales picks – can you guess the theme?

Animal Print Tunic, £20
Animal Print One Shoulder Tunic, £20
Snake Print Jumpsuit, £10
Grey & Blue Gather Front Tunic, £15
Animal Print Shimmer Top, £20

Yes, it’s animal print! Animal print was a huge trend in 2010, and judging by the runway it doesn’t look to be going anywhere any time soon. Embracing leopard’s spots might be scary for some – but you don’t have to go full on Bet Lynch, any of these pieces could be balanced out with solid colour accessories and dressed down with leggings and cardis.

If you’re still after something a bit more casual, then a leopard motif t-shirt is a great bet with some jeans and boots. There’s a burnt out option or a diamante option for those of you who love your bling. You could even get both, since they’re £5 each – bargain!

Let me know what you’re buying in the sales, and perhaps send us your pictures!

Love as always, and here’s to a fabulous and WILD new year!

Lauren (pocketrocket) xx
