Stone Cotton shirt
With spring in the air and summer fast approaching, it’s that time of year again when our thoughts turn to our summer wardrobe. This year, with everyone tightening their belt and keeping an eye on their purchases, Yours Clothing has the perfect collection of value pieces that are versatile and stylish to see you through the season.

One of the biggest summer trends this year is layering. For plus-size ladies, this is a great way of adding colour and texture to an outfit while also keeping cool and flattering a fuller figure. Try wearing a vest under a shirt or cardigan or experiment with colour by wearing a flash of a shade you would not usually choose. By adding extra dimensions and playing with colour and styles you will often find a new look which combines this season’s fashion buys with old pieces in your wardrobe.

For a truly comfortable and stylish outfit which incorporates the layering trend perfectly, the new ‘cool cotton’ range from Yours is an absolute must! This range shows how plus-size clothing can effortlessly mix fashion with practicality and value; a 100% cotton range in the season’s prettiest shades to mix, match and layer with coolness and comfort. Furthermore, with prices from just £10 for shorts, crops trousers and shirts, it’s incredible value for money too!

80's Fashion Back with a Plus-Size Bang!

The 1980s was a decade full of change. From politics to music there were dramatic shifts in the trends and lifestyles of people worldwide. As the world entered a new era, fashion inevitably followed. While there seems to be a tendency for some to look back on this decade with a ‘what-was-I-thinking’ attitude, the basis for many 80’s fashion trends were dramatic, edgy and super-stylish! At last this decade is getting the recognition it deserves in the fashion stakes. At Yours, we have embraced this hot spring trend to create a flattering, striking and wearable collection so that us curvy girls can enjoy a touch of 80’s nostalgia!

Perhaps the most influential aspect of this particular trend is the use of colour. Bright, bGrey black and pink batwing topold tones are used for colour blocking, stripes and geometric prints. Key colours for this look are cobalt blue, hot pink and acid brights with grey or black hues for the base. For fuller-figured women, these over-sized shapes and large blocks of colour create clean, flattering lines and can draw attention away from troublesome areas. This eye-catching 80's top (right) offers a great combination of colour-blocking, simple liens and comfort, all key features of the trend. If you are cautious with colour and prefer to stick to muted shades, it is still possible to add a touch of 80’s glamour with a hot pink streak or coloured leggings!

As well as colour, shBlack Split Sleeve Batwing topape is a crucial element of the 80’s look. Oversized tops teamed with leggings or straight leg jeans are a perfect way to embrace the trend while still skimming your curves and keeping you comfortable. Shapes and detailing around the shoulders and arms play a major part in the 80’s styling. Batwing tops have made a massive comeback with sleeves becoming fuller and more of a feature. Similarly, slits on sleeves are regularly used to keep the shape authentic to the 80s and to flatter the arm at its most shapely part. This gorgeous top (left) with a batwing and slit in the sleeve is the perfect example – and it incorporates the hot pink and black elements of 80’s chic!

There are of course features of the 80s that none of us want to repeat – hair crimping and shoulder pads are thankfully constrained to fashion show catwalks. This season’s look is about incorporating 80’s fashion concepts with a modern, fresh feel. For those of you who would rather remember idols of the 80s rather than the fashions; try an iconic T-shirt such as these Blondie, Rolling Stones and Betty Boop tees for an instant nod towards the hottest decade to make a come-back in years!

With all the above pieces and indeed a full collection of 80s inspired outfits at Yours Clothing this season, plus-size fashion has never been so exciting and accessible, no matter the limits to wish you dare to push it!

Global Traveler – A Plus Size Spring Trend!

Is it me or has this winter dragged on longer than usual? It seems that everything has come to a standstill as way of protest against the miserable weather and dark evenings. Well I’m pleased to be the bearer of good news…at last things seem to be cheering up – not the climate quite yet but certainly the fashion world is in full bloom. As promised last week, here begins a guide to the hottest trends for Spring/Summer 09….

GLOBAL TRAVELER

The ‘global traveler’ trend is all about taking inspiration from a mix of cultures and styles; combining a variety of patterns and textures in order to create an eclectic, feminine look. Key to this style are ethnic prints, cool cottons and loose chiffon. Colours include purples and fuchsias with jade and lime accents set against backgrounds of black grey and denim. Monochrome also features but in muted tones. Paisley prints are often used to add impact and colour. Shape is also important. ‘Loose’ and ‘Skimming’ are the key words here. Forget restrictive, tight clothes, ‘global travelers’ like to feel comfortable and cool.

Perhaps the best aspect of this pretty trend is its accessibility. Us curvy girls can embrace the styling while enjoying ultra-flattering fabrics and prints. Long skimming patterned tunics teamed with jeans or leggings are a great way to show off the style in comfort and with confidence. The black purple and lilac mix and match print tunic (left) for instance combines all the colours and examples of the ‘global traveler’ fashion with a figure-enhancing shape.

For more of an evening look, this tunic (right) is a great example. The black and cream chiffon layer tunic instantly keeps it feminine and the embroidered detail catches the feel of the look perfectly. Texture and shape are key to ensuring that this piece is flattering as well as stylish for plus-size girls.
When looking to add some ‘global traveler’ into your wardrobe, remember to look for; Texture, Pattern, Colour and Shape to add an exotic twist to your style this spring…and without the costly plane ticket!

Next Month it's there's an 80's revival heading our way, keep posted!

Spring is Coming...Plus Size Style Tips to Get you Ready!

Although it’s hard to believe at the moment as we look out of the window onto a miserable, cold, rainy scene but spring really is on its way! This always comes as a welcome arrival and as the sun begins to reappear our attention turns to the most enjoyable part of a change in season: A wardrobe update! I’m very pleased to tell you that this spring there are some gorgeous fashions emerging and, for the plus size clothes market, close attention to pattern and shape means that we can all feel feminine, confident and ready to fully embrace the season. Here at Yours Clothing we are particularly excited about our coming collections, the most fashion inspired and best value to date!

While we’re eagerly anticipating the new collections to arrive, there are some great ways for us all to prepare our wardrobe for a top-up. Here are my top 3 ways to get yourself and your wardrobe ready for spring:

1. Have a good clear out – There are certain items we all own that we simply can’t bring ourselves to throw away. This spring, many garments from last year will still be wearable with a new twist so there’s no need to be brutal. However it is important to keep your look fresh so if there are any wardrobe horrors lurking about then now’s the time to chuck them out! A good clear out can instantly make you feel ready for a little modernisation.

2. Stock up on great value staples – At the moment, while there aren’t too many gorgeous spring prints and styles about to distract you, have a quick check to see if you need to stock up on or replace some key wardrobe items. For example, us curvy ladies always need a good pair of black bootleg trousers and a pair of flattering jeans. Investing in these must-have pieces now will mean that you can treat yourself to ‘fashion’ items throughout the year with confidence that you will have something to wear them with! Check out the great range of plus-size trousers and jeans at www.yoursclothing.co.uk today.

3. Choose your style – There are some key trends which we will all be wearing this spring/summer and over the next few weeks I will be introducing you to them with some great tips on how to get the most out of the look. For the time being however, try and think about the look/style you would like to try out in the coming months. What is your wardrobe most lacking? Are you keen to progress at work and need to dress accordingly? Or, are you keen to try a completely new trend?! It’s important to have an idea of the look you are you looking for before the spring styles tempt you to buy anything too rashly.

With these simple rules, you should be ready when the time comes for a spring spree. Stay tuned for some spring trend exclusives over the next few weeks. Meanwhile I’m off to have a good clear out and a flick through some magazines for my very own new season wardrobe overhaul!

Plus-Size New Year Resolutions We Can All Enjoy!

So we’re two weeks into 2009 and already Christmas seems like a distant memory as do the ‘New Year’ promises and resolutions we no doubt made to ourselves in our merry festive mood. We all do it, promise to give up a bad habit or cut back on all the things we enjoy in order to gain confidence or feel proud of the way we look or act throughout the coming year. The problem I’ve always found with resolutions however is that they’re not enjoyable! Unless you really want to and feel ready to make that change then inevitably they fall by the wayside by about this time of year!

There are better ways to give yourself a lift or alter your demeanour and they all come from the attitude we take and the effort we make when we present ourselves to the world every day. Perhaps the best example is the way in which we dress. As plus-size women will know, clothing can become less of a delight and more of a challenge when womanly curves fail to inspire clothing companies to design exciting fashion for shapely ladies. However now there is an affordable way in which we can dress stylishly and keep that resolution to take more pride in the way we look no matter our size:

Yours Clothing has made their own resolution this year; to continue to cater for the Plus-Size clothing market with even more value, choice and cutting-edge fashion. Whether you feel that your work-wardrobe needs a lift to push you into going for that promotion or if you’re planning a big night out soon or if you simply wish to add a new twist to your day-to-day image, look no further! Over the next few weeks these blogs will keep you in the know when it comes to this season’s hot trends and the pick of the best plus-size fashion buys.

With these hints, new lines being added to www.yoursclothing.co.uk every week and the spring collection arriving at the beginning of February, there’s never been a better time to make a resolution to update your look great and feel great in 2009.

Plus Size Sale Shopping Made Easy!

As a girl in her twenties who works for a fashion company, it may not surprise you to learn that I take great pleasure in shopping for clothes, jewellery and accessories whenever I have the opportunity – and the money! Having spent several stressful Saturdays on the lead up to Christmas battling with swarms of shoppers frantically searching for perfect gifts for their loved ones however, the novelty has well and truly worn off by January.

Unfortunately, January is perhaps the best time in the whole year to bag yourself a bargain in the New Year sales. The non-too-distant memory of Christmas shopping however tends to haunt my mind preventing me from heading out to do battle with the hundreds of other brave shoppers. I do inevitably visit the shops at least once by the end of January but by that time the ‘New Year Sale’ is more like a ‘Jumble Sale’ and most purchases are made purely because of the saving I’m making not because I am really that keen on the particular garment!

In recent years, there has been an alternative... online shopping. Same great deal, same choice of clothing but no crowded shopping centre-induced headache! Although this cures many problems with sale shopping, it does cause a few more. For example, many stores start their January sale on Boxing Day morning meaning that the keenest of bargain hunters are at their computer, fingers poised to add as much reduced stock to their basket as possible before most of us have even finished sleeping off the Christmas Day over-indulgences!

Well, I am pleased to tell you that here at Yours Clothing not only have we decided to launch our sale this week, but we will continue to replenish our sale stock and have further reductions on our plus size clothing all the way into the new year and beyond! Furthermore, with our great ‘shop by size’ facility you can ensure that every item you fall in love with is definitely available in your size! What could be simpler? Gorgeous plus-size fashion at a reduced price, delivered to your door without even so much of a hint of stressful sale shopping. I know where I’ll be looking for my new year bargains!
